Ghost Hawk (Martinborough) 2018 Pinot Noir

Silver Medal - Decanter (under original label)
95 Points/5 Stars - Wine Orbit, Sam Kim (under original label)
5 Stars - Michael Cooper (under original label)
"Estate-grown and matured in French oak casks. Full-coloured, it is fragrant, mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with generous, ripe cherry, plum, spice and nut flavours, good tannin support, and a savoury, finely structured finish. A very ageworthy wine, it’s well worth cellaring to mid-2021+."

The Pinot Noir buy of the year! This is Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay under priced for the wine and its pedigree.

Bottled for us by a top Martinborough producer. This comes from a top site that has gone into Martinborough's big name Pinots in the past but is too good for that now. The Vines on this site are low yielding of high quality fruit and are up to 30 odd years old. This is classy stuff, low vigour, low cropping vineyard.  Hand picked, crushed into 2 tonne open fermenters, hand plunged and with gentle use of new oak.

Enticing aromas of dark cherry, plum, vanilla and mixed spices. The palate is wonderfully weighted, supple and delicious.

Kahurangi (Nelson) 2020 Pinot Gris

5 Stars - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit 2020

"A stunning grape growing season for the 2020 Harvest. A dry Spring, followed by a hot and dry Summer with a little bit of rain just before harvest began, resulting in intense flavours and ripeness in the grapes and wines. A subtle perfumed nose brimming with pears, nashi and crushed ripe apple is repeated on the palate. A slightly drier mouth-feel an a great full length to finish. Perfect for all occasions.

Versatile and perfectly matched to food or enjoyed on its own. This elegant, fleshy wine makes a perfect aperitif, or serve chilled (11°c) with fresh fish."  Winery Notes

Matahiwi (Hawkes Bay) 2019 Chardonnay

91 points Sam Kim

"Cool fermented with both aromatic and Burgundy style yeasts in barrels and stainless steel tanks. Once fermentation was completed, the wine was left for an extended period on yeast lees to promote textural qualities and mouthfeel. A portion of the wine went through Malolactic fermentation to soften acidity and add warm buttery notes. The wine exhibits pineapple and grapefruit flavours with a rich mealy texture."
