Four Stars - Warren Barton
"A Wairarapa pinot noir with an instantly appealling aroma of mushrooms, berries and cherries, gently massaged with oak . Vibrant, similarly complex flavours which linger on the palate. Smooth and elegant and a bargain for a wine from this neck of the woods." Warren Barton

A silky and seductive Pinot Noir from Gladstone, Wairarapa.  Aromas of ripe dark berries and cherry with touches of oak and mushroom. The palate is soft and full of rich elegant berry fruits. This is sensational Martinborough wine for less than $20 a bottle.

not the greatest Pinot I've tasted by a long way. Not much flavour, wouldn't buy it again

Want a Martinborough Pinot Noir bargain, then look no further. At under $20 this will make your budget go further while still giving you a very good wine. We had it with marinated lamb and it was an ideal match. Let the wine breath for 30 mins or so and you will get the full benefit of its lovely berry fruit and full flavour and long finish. Defintely on the re-order list

Don Barton got it right when he described this wine as smooth and elegant. Very savoury, earthy characters - no sweet berries coming through. Excellent finish. This wine is superb and a steal at under $20.00. Hint - open this wine (and all your screw caps) if possible 20 mins or so before drinking. Allows the wine to open up to display its true characters.

This wine is great value for the money. It has shown better fruit qualities with a little cellaring.

Our latest "Art Series" Pinot Noir.  This beautiful Pinot Noir is made by one of the most awarded producers of Pinot Noir in Martinborough - the Prince of Pinot.  A nickname he rightly received for consistently making some of the best Pinot Noirs in New Zealand.
A lovely fruit driven Pinot Noir from Martinborough. Nice ripe red cherry aromas followed through on the palate with a juicy flavour of good pinot character and light oak to balance. Soft and moreish.
The painting is from the very talented Belinda Griffiths. Her work has such a natural aura, solitude and intensity - monochrome yet you can feel colour by looking at it. "Breathe" was chosen by as the Winesale.co.nz Art Series winner at the 2011 New Zealand Art Show.

Awaroa Bay (Nelson) 2011 Pinot Noir
Awaroa Bay (Nelson) 2011 Pinot Noir

An elegant fruit-driven style, deep luscious cherry in colour. The nose shows ripe aromas of red cherry, plum and subtle spice notes.
The palate includes subtle oak and mouth-filling berry flavours with hints of pepper, spice and truffles.
Light and gently flavoured. It's juicy and rounded on the palate with good fruit intensity
and a soft finish.
At its best now to 2014.

16.5+ /20 Points, Raymond Chan
An outstanding example of Nelson Pinot Noir.
Dark, deep, youthful, black hued and ruby-red in colour.  The wine has a deep black berry and plum fruited bouquet that is fresh and vibrantly expressed.  On the palate, medium-light bodied with 14% alcohol. Very nice vibrant black berry fruit and dark plum flavours. The tannin extraction is moderate and provides a soft, supple and smooth texture allowing immediate enjoyment.
One of our most well supported Pinot Noirs. Unrivaled in New Zealand at this price.
