Caol Ila 25 year old is the oldest of the standard Caol Ila family. Like the rest of the standard lineup, it has been bottled at 43%, however it follows several cask-strength editions which were also aged for 25 years. A small amount of ex-sherry, European oak casks were used for maturation.

A quarter century in the cask has transformed peaty smoke on the nose to polish, putty, and  lighter notes of salt and fruit. The palate showcases a spicy, dry oak profile, but the influence of sherry is felt as well, with honey and nuttiness, and touches of vanilla and toffee. Overall the smoke is much softer here, with wood playing a larger role. Long, pleasant finish. Complex , divine
