Vavasour (Marlborough) 2021 Pinot Gris

Icons of the Marlborough sub region of Awatere, Vavasour; "Our winemaking captures the extremes and nuances of the Awatere.It’s detail, precision and a good amount of curiosity that makes our winemaking a constant evolution.More than one hundred parcels are picked, crushed and vinified as individuals, giving us a palette of diverse expressions of Awatere terroir to blend.Experimentation with whole bunch ferments, indigenous yeasts, high solids, plunged and no-plunging parcels, vineyard orientation and microbial terroir build intrigue from vine to bottle."

Beautiful compilation of fresh Doyenne du Comice pear intertwined with hints of honeysuckle and spice. The palate is rich, with attractive red apple and pear flavours complimented by a delicate acidity. A long finish with natural notes of saline minerality.

Weave (Sth Australia) 2022 Chardonnay

Pale straw yellow in colour. Ripe nectarine, fig and nougat with accents of wild honey. These are supported by freshly cut hay and cinnamon spice. Layers of flavour build across the palate reflecting the fruit, natural fermentation and ageing on yast lees. The slightest hint of oak comes through as a hint of cinnamon and spice. Balanced acidity gives the wine thrust through to the refreshing finish.

Growing conditions for vintage 2022 began with a mild Spring & flowering period which helped produce an even set in our Chardonnay vines. A mild but dry harvest period with cool nights meant that our Chardonnay vines produced wines with excellent flavour, depth and freshness.

Weave (Sth Australia) 2022 Premium Chardonnay

Pale straw with green hues. Rich tropical fruit such as paw paw and mango, blossom notes combine with sweet spice. The wine has a savoury edge with flinty notes from the wild ferment. The flavours from the nose are balanced by the creamy mid palate and tight acid finish. A veritable fruit salad of flavours that linger well after consumption.

Good late winter and early spring rainfall replenished the soils. A mild, wet spring kept moisture levels up to the growing vines. Summer and autumn were mild and dry which was ideal for ripening the grapes and allowed us to harvest at the perfect ripeness.

From a well known NZ producer and bottled just for you. This is awesome Chardonnay buying. A 100% New Zealand wine. Fruit comes from select Gisborne sites. Aromas of Struck match, Macadamia nuts, Stone fruit and popcorn. On the palate the wine shows flavours of Apricots, Butterscotch with a round creamy texture.

Quaffable and shareable. Try with Fettuccine Alfredo.

West Valley (Gisborne) 2022 Pinot Gris

The Western Valleys in Gisborne run back towards the high country. These valleys provide perfect conditions for grapes; hot days with no sea breezes and nights cooled by prevailing winds. 

This is great Pinot Gris buying. Beatifully balanced, packed full of aromas showing orchard fruits and a touch of zest and baking spices. A weighty palate satisfying and lengthy finish.

Whale Watcher (Marlborough) 2022 Sauvignon Blanc

Fruit is sourced from premium vineyards in the Marlborough region,  gently pressed, cold settled, and cool fermented with selected yeast strains to enhance the unique aromatics and flavours.

A delicate nose of lime, fine tropical fruits followed by a saline mouthfeel and a typically Marlborough refreshing finish.

Try with a tuna nicoise salad, or a creamy seafood chowder.

Winery description

"Our Chardonnay is sourced from three different vineyards and four different clones - predominantly Mendoza (63%) with the balance spread across clones 95,15 and 1066. The fruit was hand-picked and immediately whole bunch pressed.  The heavy pressings were kept separate to minimise harsh phenolics.  The juice was lightly settled before being racked and inoculated for fermentation.  Halfway through fermentation, the wine was transferred to French oak of which 25% was new, and predominantly in 500L puncheon format. Full malolactic fermentation was carried out and the wine was then aged in oak on fine lees for 10 months. Elegant and vibrant with a weighty, dense palate. Precise flavours of ripe white peach and citrus are balanced with savoury, spicy oak influence and a firm mineral texture, leaving a salivating finish. Our Chardonnay is a food-friendly wine. A perfect match for Mediterranean food, pork, chicken and creamy mushroom pasta."

A full bodied wine with a rich, oily texture that coats the palate with the variety’s distinct and heady flavours. The slight residual sugar adds to the wine’s weight and textural qualities.

Concentrated, textural sauvignon blanc with guava, citrus, grapefruit, green capsicum, tomato leaf and a suggestion of struck flint flavour. A complex, satisfying wine that deserves its flagship status. 

Classic gooseberry, currant and grapefruit, with complexing wet rock and nettle notes, typical of the Awatere Valley sub-region.

This is a medium-bodied wine with bright, fresh acidity balancing the vibrant gooseberry and pure mineral flavours.  These persist on the lengthy, crisp finish.

 Summer salads, poultry and shellfish - particularly suited to oysters or green shell mussels - as well as lobster and white fish. Our ‘Greg’ Sauvignon Blanc is also the perfect aperitif.

Fragrant notes of Beurre Bosc pear, red apple, honeysuckle with a hint of clove and aniseed are displayed on the nose.

Palate: Ripe pear and apple flavours, with hints of savoury yeast lees notes and a thread of minerality on the palate. Dry to taste, this wine has gentle acidity and supportive, fine-textural tannins which promotes a long, clean finish to this wine.

Made to be enjoyed with food. We recommend dishes featuring richer seafoods, mushrooms, light game and poultry.

Serve: Lightly chilled.
