Marlborough Pinot Gris has grown strongly in popularity over the last few years and has quickly become a staple in the Allan Scott Family Winemakers range.

Winemakers let Pinot Gris have a short spell of skin contact to enhance its colour and flavour. The result is a delicately luscious wine that exhibits pear, apple, and subtle floral and honeysuckle flavours. With a smooth texture, this wine is flawlessly delicious when enjoyed on its own.

Babich (Marlborough) 2025 Pinot Gris

Babich are one of the longest running producers of Pinot Gris in New Zealand. The wine is Alsace in style, partly barrel-fermented, with mouthfilling body and strong stone-fruit, pear and spice flavours. It is made medium-dry, and is deliciously harmonious, with a rich, well-rounded finish.

Fruit for this wine was sourced from the Rapaura sub-region of Marlborough. The grapes were harvested at different maturity levels to add complexity of the finished wine.

2022 Pinot Gris shows pear and tropical fruit characters on the nose. The elegant palate has floral undertones with sweet nectarine fruit enhanced by some citrus undertones. The wine has wonderful depth and complexity along with an off dry finish. This is a fragrant Pinot Gris that will age well over the next 5 years

This style is perfect as an aperitif or to complement your favourite white meat, seafood and pasta dishes.

This wine explodes on the nose with a fruit salad of peach, nectarine, melon and mandarin combining with honey, nougat and floral notes for an intense and inviting array of aromas. The palate is elegant, dry and concentrated with ripe, tropical, citrus and stone fruit flavours and delicious textural creaminess from the wild fermentation. It is a charming mouthful, concluding in a long, smooth finish.

To have great flavour in our Pinot Gris, we undertake intensive management in the vineyards, including bunch thinning, leaf plucking and colour thinning. Winemaking - The grapes for this wine were sourced from three of our Hawke’s Bay vineyards – Riverview, Kinross and Campbell’s Brook. The grapes were transported to our Riverview winery where they were pressed to stainless steel tanks and fermented using a range of yeasts. The resulting wines were transported by road tanker to our Katikati winery for blending, finishing and bottling.
