The palate is equally impressive with outstanding depth and richness, wonderfully framed by chalky tannins, making the wine sturdy and persistent. At its best: now to 2038."

94+ POINTS - Andrew Caillard MW
"Medium deep crimson. Fresh blackberry dark chocolate brambly aromas with some herb garden notes. Lovely buoyant medium-bodied style with soft blackberries, mulberry berry fruits, fine supple velvety tannins and underlying roasted chestnut notes. Finishes chalky firm, fresh and juicy with a kick of liquorice. ...delicious classic modern Barossa Shiraz."

93 POINTS Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate
"A bit cedary on the nose, the 2018 Terroirs of the Barossa Marananga Shiraz combines oaky notes of vanilla and maple syrup with red-berried fruit and peppery spice. Full-bodied and silky in texture, it's rich and mouthfilling yet retains a sense of elegance that belies its considerable alcohol (15.5% on the label), finishing in a long, gentle glide of raspberries and cinnamon red hots. Drink Date: 2021 - 2030"

Marananga, centred in the North West quadrant of the Barossa provides some of the Valley’s most powerful wines. The red brown clay loam soils with schists and siltstone yield flavours of jam and fruitcake, cardamom, blueberry fruits, cocoa powder with an undercurrent of roasted meats and crackling.

To ensure the unique character of this sub region is exemplified in the wine, small open fermenters and our basket press were employed to gently extract the wine. Aging in the finest quality oak for 18 months and selection of the truest barrels has created a wine that respects and expresses its place of origin.

Chateau Tanunda (Barossa) 2018 Terroirs Greenock Shiraz

96 POINTS- Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
A tremendously styled shiraz; the bouquet shows dark fruit richness with vanilla, cedar and cake spice characters, followed by a concentrated palate that’s expansive and mouthfilling. It’s splendidly enhanced by silky texture and grainy tannins, offering firm structure and terrific length. At its best: now to 2038.
92 POINTS - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Deep dark purple/red colour, with a more herbal aromatic note, peppercorns, coconut and green walnut naunces, too. The palate is bold and full-bodied...Age will no doubt bring more to it. Drink 2022 - 2035

An expression of invidivuals regions within the greater Barossa area. Greenock sits on the north western outskirts of Nuriootpa, in the heart of the Barossa Valley.
The dark, brooding regional characters of plum, red cherry and liquorice are all to the fore of this wine. The palate is focused and linear, with dark bitter chocolate notes and an elegant long persistent finish. We recommend cellaring for 10 years.

96 POINTS - Huon Hooke, The Real Review (2018 Vintage)
"Deep, dark red/purple colour with a gun-flinty, machine-oil overtone to the bouquet. There are black fruit aromas beneath. The palate is very complex and layered, with smoky, briary, black olive and graphite nuances that follow throughout the palate. The tannins are firm and compact and beautifully balanced to add structure and contribute to length. A ripping wine. Drinking Well: 2020–2035"

Winery description

"The Château’ Cabernet Sauvignon displays deep, rich purple and red hues.

The bouquet has lifted aromas of blackcurrant, redcurrant and spice on the velvety smooth palate with hints of cedar and mint. The extensive finish is framed by elegant, fine-grained tannins from 18 months' maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels.

The grapes for this year’s The Chateau Cabernet Sauvignon were grown on our estate vineyard in the cool climate of the Eden Valley.

The grapes are destemmed, but not crushed, and spend seven days on their skins in open fermenters with regular battonage to more gently extract colour, flavours and tannins. Following fermentation, the wine is carefully basket pressed prior to maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels for 18 months."
