The Chanar Punco is a special wine from El Esteco, named after the tiny site high up in the Calchaqui valley. A Field-blend. The grapes are selected, regardless their variety, with a view to capturing the nature of the few vineyards growing on the unusual terroir above 2,400 meters (7,800 feet) high. Chañar Punco is the gem of our terroirs.

Rich, dark violet in color with a nose of dark chocolate, berry, plum and herb. Explosively rich on the palate with long, structured tannins.

Creme de la Creme from the El Esteco Estate. Stunning just stunning.

Ruby red, profound and clean. Tears formed in glass indicate a very good structure and concentration. Spicy notes where black and red peppers outstand. Persistent and elegant. True exponent of a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Calchaqui Valley. Ripe and round tannins fulfill the mouth. Black fruit and chocolate notes prevail where the oak is gently integrated with the fruit. Long and elegant persistence.

There are few places on earth where magic really happens and the Calchaqui Valley, home of El Esteco Winery, is certainly one of them. El Esteco today has nearly 1,000 acres of vineyards producing unique, yet world recognised, stunning wines.

Fruit from vineyards throughout the Estate goes into this, the Estate wine. French oak barrels for 12 months. The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined. Then is kept at the winery for a further 6 months before release. 

Aromas of super ripe berries, Raisins, Coffee and a herbaceous edge. Mature and vibrant tannins and a palate packed full of dark fruits, Long-lasting and elegant finish.

This wine just oozes quality....ageing potential up to 10years from vintage.

Familia Valdelana (Rioja) 2018 Reserva

Here at winesale we have been importing Bodegas Valdelana wines from Rioja for a number of years. A family owned and operated estate now in its fifth generation. Riddled with history, the estate boasts spectacular underground cellars dating from the 15th century.

95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano. The grapes, from vines over 60 years old planted in chalky-clay soils, are vinified with the same methods the estate has traditionally used since the 1500's. Twenty-four months spent aging in French and American oak round off the finished wine. Cherry colour and delicate transparency. Aromas of earth, dark fruit, chocolate and fine spices. Smooth and fine tannins envelop the palate, displaying plum, tobacco leaves, and a touch of liqueur. Lively fruitiness and woody undertones.

Best enjoyed around 16ºC Serve with Spanish stews, or other mediteranean dishes.

Familia Valdelana (Rioja) 2021 Crianza

Here at winesale we have been importing Bodegas Valdelana wines from Rioja for a number of years. We are ever impressed with the clean and modern style of wines from this classic region. Blown away with the ever astonishing prices.... Valdelana is located in the village of Elciego,  in the region known as Rioja Alavesa. A family owned and operated estate now in its fith generation. Riddled with history, the estate boasts spectacular underground cellars dating from the 15th century.

Deep cherry-red colour; clean and bright. Fruity on the nose, with some balsamic notes and some oak in the background. Blueberries and wild blackberries integrated with oaky notes vanilla or cinnamon. Fruit and oak perfectly blended on the palate; powerful and elegant wine. Long and intense aftertaste.

Vines of over 40 years grown in chalk, clay soils. Crianza wines are aged for 12 months, using French oak barrels (50%) and American oak barrels (50%)

Francesca Bay (Waipara) 2024 Pinot Noir

Bright and juicy Pinot Noir with aromas of black plum, cherries and mixed spice. Complemented by rich tannins and oak aging giving a smooth mouth feel. It’s a medium-bodied wine with a fine lingering finish. A wine to enjoy with a meal in the company of friends.

This has to be one of our fave reds in this price bracket.  Grunty, ripe and so full of flavour.  What's not to love?!

This intrepid Old Vine Zinfandel has a gnarly core of jammy blackberry and black cherry flavors with hints of black pepper, balanced by complex American and French oak toast.

Grant Burge (Barossa) 2021 Distinction Filsell Shiraz

The Grant Burge Wines Filsell vineyard of near century old vines is considered one of the best vineyards in the Barossa Valley, and consistently produces fruit of incredible intensity and concentration. Planted in 1920, the Filsell vineyard also produces some of the fruit for the highly acclaimed Meshach Shiraz, making the Filsell Shiraz a sought-after younger brother to loyal followers.

Nose: Dark chocolate, mocha, plum with caramel lift. Sweet spice and cacao nib. Although serious Shiraz black fruits show the layers are extended with earth and vanilla.

Palate: The tannins are firm but fine, with a full weight and texture carrying liquorice, black spice and some juniper. Full with intense flavours, the wine carries through for an intensely long finish 

Grant Burge (Barossa) 2021 Distinction Holy Trinity GSM

The Holy Trinity is a traditional blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre. The fruit for this wine is Barossa grown, predominantly handpicked from old, dry-grown vines which range from 35 to 90 years old. 

Brilliant and vibrant ruby red colour.

A playful combination of candied apple, raspberry jubes, frangipane and lemon curd. In the background you see notes of cinnamon and clove.

Medium to full bodied, fresh and vibrant with enough tannin to shape the wine. Acidity carries the wine through to a clean, slightly mineral and lengthy finish. Lovely hints of fresh raspberries and cinnamon linger on the palate.

Italia (Abruzzo Italy) 2023 DOC Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

Aromas and plum and black cherry with a hint of spice. The palate combines ripe, redcurrant and blackberry fruit with a bright, savoury finish.

Produced from selected parcels of Montepulciano grapes grown in the Chieti province of Abruzzo, on southeast Italy’s Adriatic coast. Hand-harvested from low-yielding 30-50 year old vines. Fermentation takes place in small batches at 28-30ºC, with daily pumping over, and the skins are left in contact with the fermenting wine for 10 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to Adria’s cellars for a brief maturation prior to bottling.

Match with pasta dishes with meat or tomato sauces, pizza, grilled and barbecued meats.

Italia (Puglia Italy) 2024 IGT Sangiovese

A medium bodied, everyday drinking red with aromas of red berry and damson fruit. Fresh and lively on the palate with ripe berry fruit balanced by tangy acidity and quite firm tannins leading to a warm, spicy finish.

Fermentation took place at 28 to 30C with 10 days on the skins and daily pumping over. After malolactic fermentation the wine was transferred to Adria’s cellars where it is bottled.

Ideal with simple pasta tossed in butter and Parmesan or with tomato based sauces

Kim Crawford (Marlborough) 2023 Pinot Noir

Lifted red berry fruit aromas with dark cherry notes, complemented by savory undertones and spicy oak. Ripe, dark berry flavors of blackberry and black currant. Subtle hints of oak help fill out the palate.
