Stanrock (Marlborough) 2023 Pinot Noir

4 Stars/90 Points - Sam Kim
"Offering subtle complexity with ripe fruit notes, showing sweet cherry, dried herb, warm spice and toasted nut characters on the nose, followed by a silky palate that’s juicy and lingering. Well rounded and smooth, offering friendly drinking." Sam Kim

A beautiful expression of Marlborough’s cooler-climate elegance, the 2023 Stanrock Pinot Noir strikes a perfect balance between vibrant primary fruit and savory sophistication.

On the nose, the wine opens with a fragrant bouquet of ripe Bing cherries and wild summer berries. As it breathes, deeper layers reveal themselves: a touch of dried thyme, warm baking spices, and a hint of toasted hazelnut from subtle oak maturation. This complexity provides an intellectual edge to its naturally bright, approachable character.

Te Kairanga (Martinborough) 2023 Runholder Pinot Noir

Runholder is made with grapes grown on the Te Kairanga Home and McLeod vineyards, which were destemmed grapes then fermented in stainless and aged in French oak for 10 months for structured, smoothness and a velvety texture.

Winemaker John Kavanagh is one of the top Pinot Noir makers in Martinborough and has a long track record of outstanding Pinots. Crafted from our best vineyard parcels, the fruit for Runholder Pinot Noir is derived from nine clones, including the famed Abel clone. It is hand-picked block by block, hand sorted and destemmed. Fermented with wild yeast and hand plunged, The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak with balanced oak treatment and minimal fining and filtration

Deep, rich crimson hues lead to a flurry of bright red fruit and classic Martinborough savoury notes. The palate is ripe and plush with an enjoyable core of fruit. Fine grained tannins add structure with a soft spice finish. A perfect match for venison, Runholder Pinot Noir is very drinkable now but can be cellared for 5 to 8 years.

Te Mata Awatea (Hawkes Bay) 2023 Cabernet Merlot

5 Stars - Michael Cooper
5 Stars - Sam kim Wine Orbit
96 Points - Cameron Douglas

First made in 1982, Awatea continues to represent the best of the classic Hawke's Bay cabernet/merlot blend. Floral aromas with intense blackberry, currant and dark plum flavours lead to a rich, supple palate with a sustained finish. Awatea will continue to evolve in bottle for ten years from harvest.

winery note
" A deep brilliant crimson with an underlying amethyst hue, Awatea ’21 immediately offers up concentrated blackcurrant, blackberry, dark plum, cocoa-powder and cedar with a subtle marine note in the background. The ripe dark and red fruit is fresh and varietally defined, enlivening the wine with layers of brightness, persistence and appeal. This depth of fruit, balanced by the bright, ripe, acid tension, carries right through to its fine dry finish. The most concentrated Awatea ever this ’21 is a delight."

Te Mata Estate (Hawkes Bay) 2022 Merlot Cabernets

Winery description

"Individual parcels of each variety from each plot were de-stemmed before a traditional warm fermentation, followed by extended maceration on skins. The resulting wines were pressed, returned to tank for malolactic fermentation, then run off to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for 12 months’ maturation before blending. The wines were regularly topped and racked throughout maturation, blended and traditionally egg-white fined before bottling. The final blend is 49% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc. Dark crimson with a bright purple hue, Estate Merlot/Cabernet ’21 has a complex and evocative scent of plum and blackberry, with the lightest fragrance of cedar. Seamlessly integrated, the aromas deepen on the wine’s palate into succulent, concentrated dark fruit with ripe, soft tannins. Structural, savoury and long, with a salivating acid/tannin balance, Estate Merlot/Cabernet ’21 runs a long, perfect line between approachability and elegance."

The Guild of Fanatics (South Australia) 2023 Shiraz

Double Gold - China Wine and Spirits Awards (previous vintage)
Double Gold - Berlin Wine Awards (previous vintage)

Australian Shiraz is a powerhouse, and this wine perfectly captures that bold, rich style. It's no wonder this has been one of our top sellers for years—it's a classic Aussie Shiraz that delivers incredible flavor and unbeatable value.

This Shiraz is a testament to the skill of winemaker Brett Duffin and his "Guild of Fermentation Fanatics." It's crafted to be an immediate showstopper, pouring a deep, ripe, inky color. The nose is incredibly fragrant, bursting with aromas of blackberry, mixed berry compote, dark chocolate, and roasted nuts.

On the palate, it’s a juicy and beautifully plump wine that delivers on the promise of the nose. It’s full-bodied and well-rounded, with a generous mid-palate and plenty of tasty, dark fruit flavors. Sam Kim, a leading wine critic, agrees, calling a previous vintage "fabulously fruited" and giving it an impressive 90 points and 4.5 stars.
