Each parcel of Pinot Gris is harvested at optimum ripeness. Short skin contact adds flavour and texture to the wine. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, we used very select aromatic yeasts to make the wine more intense. We stopped the ferment early to retain a small amount of acidity and natural sugar to give the wine it’s off-dryness. The wine was held on lees for two months to help build mouth feel & texture, then blended and bottled.

Giesen Organic (Marlborough) 2020 Sauvignon Blanc

To create an organic Sauvignon Blanc with intense flavour and texture our winemakers separated the juice into three parcels and treated each one differently. One was fermented clean and bright to create intense aromatics, the second received a wild fermentation which adds texture and depth of flavour and the final component was fermented in oak barrels to create a wine with rich mouth-feel. The winemakers then tasted each parcel and blended to create an organic wine of intense aromatics and generous flavour and length. 

Vibrant citrus flavours infused with peach, fennel and nettle aromas. A fairly full bodied wine with generous fruit weight.

The Graham Norton 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is intense, refreshing and delicious on its own or with food. It has a gorgeous fresh and aromatic nose with strong scents of nashi pear, fresh cut apple and papaya. The palate instantly appeals with tropical fruit flavours dominating and a lively, balanced acidity that compliments the layers of ripe pineapple and citrus perfectly. It’s sunshine in a glass!

A very intense, precise and fresh Sauvignon Blancf from our friends at Heaphy Vineyard in Nelson. High concentration and finesse, it has lovely notes of crisp Granny Smith apple, lime zest and a saline savoury finish.

Sauvignon Blanc has been a flagship wine for Hunter’s since the very beginning in 1979. This is the variety that introduced Hunter’s and New Zealand wine to the world back in 1986 at the Sunday Times Wine Festival in London.

"Our classically styled Sauvignon Blanc shows passionfruit and citrus characters along with grapefruit and green herbs. Dry and saline, the lively palate has a creamy texture and a juicy finish. The multi layered palate is rich and complex with a dense fruit core. These flavours and aromas leave a fresh lingering finish on the palate making it a full satisfying wine with balanced acidity. "

The wine has beautiful stone-fruit and ripe pear characters on the nose with some citrus undertones. The palate shows a tight mid-palate with flinty characters that lead into a complex and juicy finish. Good balance from the toasty oak character that compliments the fruity structure. This wine drinks very well on release but will develop and evolve over the next 5-7 year

"This is a single vineyard wine made with fruit from our Rapaura Road vineyard, next to the winery. The vines were planted in 1995 and while the planting plan is long since lost, we believe there are up to seven different clones and rootstock combinations in the vineyard. The fruit was machine harvested in two passes. The picks were fermented separately and then blended back together. The early pick lends acidity to the wine and a strong ginger flavour. The later pick has more classic Gewurztraminer characters – lychee and lemongrass."

Fruit for this wine was sourced from the Rapaura sub-region of Marlborough. The grapes were harvested at different maturity levels to add complexity of the finished wine.

2022 Pinot Gris shows pear and tropical fruit characters on the nose. The elegant palate has floral undertones with sweet nectarine fruit enhanced by some citrus undertones. The wine has wonderful depth and complexity along with an off dry finish. This is a fragrant Pinot Gris that will age well over the next 5 years

This style is perfect as an aperitif or to complement your favourite white meat, seafood and pasta dishes.

Made in an off-dry style to enhance the natural sweet fruit flavours that this variety has to offer.

In time will develop into the delicious oily characters attributed to the great Rieslings of the world, with ageing potential.

Perfumed aromas of orange blossom, fresh and inviting on the nose. The palate has soft herbal characters coupled with peach and lime, with a hint of honey. Fabulous fresh summer drinking but also with the ability to cellar with confidence.

The grapes are ripened on the vine a little longer, getting a touch of "noble rot" that concentrates their sweetness. 

The result? A beautiful straw-colored wine with a tropical twist, bursting with aromas of ripe apricot, pineapple, and nectarine. Take a sip, and you'll be greeted by lush, rounded flavors of apricot nectar, marmalade, and even a hint of plum. It's smooth, balanced, and leaves you wanting more!
 

Johner Estate (Wairarapa) 2021 Chardonnay

Aromas of dried apricot with toasty butterscotch showcase the use of barrel fermentation, along with a creamy, mealy character on the nose. A rich and full palate ensues, with fresh pineapple, biscuity, vanillin and nutty notes. Mouth-filling and savoury in character, yet with a minerality and complexity that compliment an elegant and long finish.

Fragrant notes of elderflower, guava and mint jump out of the glass, followed by hints of oregano and thyme layered with passionfruit and citrus. This in-your-face drop captures the essence of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Concentrated citrusy notes of lime zest and tropical guava combine with a lick of wet stones. The palate is dry and gives way to a lip-smacking, mouth-watering finish.

This wine explodes on the nose with a fruit salad of peach, nectarine, melon and mandarin combining with honey, nougat and floral notes for an intense and inviting array of aromas. The palate is elegant, dry and concentrated with ripe, tropical, citrus and stone fruit flavours and delicious textural creaminess from the wild fermentation. It is a charming mouthful, concluding in a long, smooth finish.

Kopu (Gisborne) 2022 Pinot Gris

Grapes for this wine were grown in the Ngatapa Valley region of  Gisborne district where dry-farming practices have been employed for over 75 years.

Post-harvest the grapes and juice were processed with care to maximise fruit flavour and intensity. The resulting wine has lovely floral aromatics on the nose, while the palate is showing peach, fresh pear, apple blossom and subtle spice.

Ideal food pairings include fresh salad and vegetable dishes, white meats and Asian cuisine.

This is great buying Chardonnay....Classically Hawkes Bay. 

The Kopu range from Lake Road wines, offers incredible value and varietal characteristics. Made as an on premis label and for export purposes.

Packed full of stone fruit, nutty and butterscotch aromas. The palate shows deliciously ripe characteristics and fresh underlying citrus.

The grapes for this wine came from two sites in the Awatere Valley, Marlborough and were machine harvested in the early hours to minimise heat damage. On delivery to the winery they were immediately destemmed and the juice cooled.  Kopu has long been a fave here at Winesale. We are delighted to have the 2022 vintage avaliable.

"Very pale straw in colour while the aromas offer the classic, lifted potpourri florals with lychee and roses with a pronounced thread of fresh lemon. The palate is soft, round and luscious but with wonderful weight and depth. Turkish delight flavours add to the wine's complexity and give way to ripe tropical fruits on the mid-palate while the finish has a pithy lemon character. Long, concentrated and highly memorable."

"Our 2022 Estate Sauvignon Blanc is bursting with lemon, passionfruit and ripe tropical fruit, tied together with layers of fresh, green, herbaceous characters. The palate has lovely fruit concentration, balanced acidity and a gentle, dry finish. Each block was picked when they reached maximum passionfruit characters and while the acidity was bright and crisp. The grapes were gently pressed before being fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected cultured yeast, while 4% was fermented with wild yeast in old French barriques."
